Place the singing bowl on an appropriate padded support on a stable surface. Use a suitable crystal-bowl mallet or striker, if you already have one, and begin with very gentle contact.

The bowl may be played by lightly tapping its outer wall or by slowly guiding an appropriate mallet around the outside rim to encourage a sustained tone. Use minimal pressure until you understand how the bowl responds.

Allow the sound to become part of meditation, breath awareness, journaling, intention-setting, or a transition into or out of a personal practice.

Because sound can feel intense at close range, begin softly and avoid placing your head directly inside or immediately above the bowl while it is being played.

The bowl may support mindful transitions, auditory orientation, breath awareness, and intentional pauses through the experience of listening to a sustained tone.

Following the sound as it rises, changes, and gradually fades may provide a structured point of present-moment attention. The tone can also become a familiar cue associated with slowing down, beginning a practice, or returning awareness to the body and surrounding space.

Sound affects each person differently. Keep the volume gentle, increase distance when needed, and discontinue use if the tone feels uncomfortable, overstimulating, or disorienting.
